Laurel Violet
Laurel Violet is a 24 year old composer from London, England. Classically trained with a masters in film scoring from the University of Bristol, Laurel combines her traditional academic experience with electronic techniques to create an atmospheric and evocative soundworld.
Laurel studied voice from a young age, but always had an interest and passion for composition. This interest grew throughout her studies at university and through her love for film scores. Laurel is inspired by Scandinavian composers such as Olafur Arnalds, Johann Johannsson and Nils Frahm and aims to embody their atmospheric minimalism in her own work. Centered around the piano, Laurel creates ambience within a magical world of strings, harp, celestes and other electronic elements.
Since graduating in 2019, Laurel has released an album and an EP, as well as writing library music and original music for short films and adverts. Her pieces have featured on multiple BBC Sounds playlists and resulted in an interview on BBC Radio London on the Robert Elms show. She is now also releasing music with independent label Pretty Decent Music.
